Most popular bake & broil elements
If your oven heats slowly, or only the top or bottom gets hot, the bake or broil element has usually burnt out. Look for a blister, crack or break in the element sheath. Compare the wattage and the terminal style with the old element before ordering.

Before you replace an element
- Turn off the breaker for the range, not just the controls.
- Remove the mounting screws at the back wall of the oven and pull the element forward a few inches to reach the wires.
- Take a photo of the wiring, then move each wire to the new element one at a time.
- An element that looks fine can still be open inside. A multimeter reading of no continuity across the terminals confirms it.
